ABOUT ME

I was born on 25 June 1957. My early years were spent in Surrey but aged 8 my father's work took him to a variety of locations around England as well as to Germany.

I was educated to A Level standard and then after secretarial college in 1975 I left home and lived and worked in London. Married in 1982 and my two beautiful and special chilren were born in 1989 and 1990. In 1993 I began transcribing on a self employed basis.

I love anything to do with performing arts, musicals especially, as well as tap, jazz and ballet dance and danced for many years. From time to time I have been known to pop up in amateur dramatic productions in the chorus.

Fellwalking in the beautiful Lake District is a passion and a joy.

Every so often I pick up my knitting needles or cross stitch.

I always do my best to behave the way I would want others to behave towards me - with honour, integrity, honesty, kindness and bonhomie.

My motto in life is 'To strive, to seek and not to yield.' Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

I have been a professional transcriptionist since 1993, providing audio and digital typing and transcription services for immigration judges, solicitors, tribunals, academic research projects within universities, market research focus and group interviews, conferences, consultancies, film and television production companies, entrepreneurs, legal companies and professionals, including transcripts for the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE).

University Transcription and Snoring Cats

Today more university transcription is on the menu and there is something so therapeutic when the ancient pussy cat joins me in my office, settles down (after much 'paddling') on his fluggy thing in the cubby hole, and purrs contentedly. Well, that would be nice but actually as of writing this, he is SNORING very loudly! Still, he IS 18 and still going strong despite a heart murmur. Long live Harry.

Back to work then.

I am a professional self-employed transcriber and have worked from my home office since 1993, providing audio and digital transcription services for academic research projects within universities, market research focus and group interviews, conferences, consultancies, film and television production companies, entrepreneurs, legal companies and professionals, including transcripts for the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE). I have been the sole third party typist for an Immigration Judge since January 2001.

All transcription and typing is carried out personally by myself to the highest standards, in the strictest of confidence and tailored to the specific requirements of each client with turnaround times being dependent on my schedule. References are available on request.

I am able to work from digital files; mini, micro and standard tapes; and emailed documents as scanned and am usually asked to email the transcripts direct to the client on completion. I am registered with HM Customs & Revenue and generate a unique invoice on completion of assignments and am not liable for VAT.
